Sex Offender Search

The Brown County eSORN Website (Electronic Sex Offender Registration Network) is a state of Ohio maintained website containing information about ALL registered sex offenders in the county. Searches are conducted by name or geographic location; and can display a map of registered sex offenders within one mile of an address.

You may also sign up to receive an email alert when a registered sex offender moves within one mile of your home.  Information provided by you regarding email and physical addresses is private, and used only for the purpose of providing timely and accurate sex offender notifications.

In 1997, Ohio enacted a sexual offender registration law.  This law requires certain designated categories of convicted sex offenders to register with the Sheriff's Office in the county where they live.  In 2003 the registration law was expanded requiring certain sex offenders who are employed within a county but residing elsewhere to register in the county where they are working.

On January 1, 2008 Senate Bill 10 modified the existing sex offender registration classifications, and also added childcare centers and pre-schools to the 1000 foot restriction imposed on registered offenders.  All offenders are now classified under a new "Tier" level, based upon the crime committed.

Some convicted sex offenders are NOT legally required to register, and others may fail to register as required by law.  Furthermore, some convicted sex offenders may move into Brown County from other states or from other counties and fail to register with our Office.  Therefore, the eSORN database does NOT contain a list of ALL individuals residing or working in Brown County who have been convicted of sex offenses.  The information contained in the sex offender database is updated as soon as possible, and every effort is made to assure the accuracy of the information.  Anyone having information concerning the whereabouts of a sex offender that conflicts with the information in the sex offender database is requested to call our Office at 937-378-4435 ext. 112 or ext. 104 and report the discrepancy.  The Brown County Sheriff's Office makes no guarantee concerning the accuracy or timeliness of the sex offender information contained in the sex offender database, and assumes no liability for damages, directly or indirectly, as a result of errors, omissions, or discrepancies.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ

The Ohio Attorney General's Office has determined that registered juvenile sex offenders will NOT be included in Ohio's online sex offender database (ESORN) which is maintained and operated by the Ohio Attorney General's Office.  Therefore, for citizens and others who have information concerning juvenile sex offenders residing within Brown County it is necessary for  them to call Deputy Watters or Deputy Johnson of the Brown County Sheriff's Office at (937) 378-4435.
