Applications are accepted on Tuesday & Wednesday  from 9:00am - 3:00pm
Applications are also accepted 2 Saturday's a month.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION, UNLESS YOU FAIL TO HEAR FROM US FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS AFTER YOU TURNED IN YOUR APPLICATION.  IF YOUR APPLICATION IS REJECTED, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE REASON, AND ADVISED OF THE APPEALS PROCEDURE.  OHIO LAWS ALLOWS UP TO 45 DAYS FOR PROCESSING APPLICATIONS, WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

Many people are not eligible to obtain a Concealed Carry License, most commonly because of a prior criminal record.  If you have ever been convicted of any crime, before filling out an application form or making an appointment to submit your application, ( remember, once submitted, you license fee is non-refundable) you should read the Attorney General's informational booklet, A Ohio's Concealed Carry Law, for details on what kinds of convictions make you ineligible to receive a Concealed Carry License.  This booklet is available on the Attorney General's Website or at the Sheriff's Office.  If you are still unsure, you may want to consult with an attorney.  THIS OFFICE WILL NOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE OR INDIVIDUAL CASE ASSESSMENTS.

You may obtain an application for a Concealed Carry License by downloading it from the Attorney General's Website or by visiting our office located at 750 Mt.Orab Pike Georgetown, Ohio   45121.

APPLICATION SHOULD BE COMPLETE BEFORE APPEARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. DO NOT SIGN THE APPLICATION UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO.
CLEARLY PRINT IN BLACK OR BLUE INK.

After picking up your concealed handgun license, please be aware of the following information:

1.  Your license is now entered into the law enforcement computer system.
2.  An officer stopping any vehicle registered to you will be aware the registered vehicle owner has a concealed handgun license.
3.  If stopped by an officer while carrying a handgun, the license holder must follow the procedures outlined in the current Ohio's Concealed Carry Law booklet.
4.  Please store the license in the sleeve provided or plastic laminate to protect the card.

Ohio law requires you notify the Sheriff's Office at which you obtained your Concealed Carry License within 45 days after an address Change.

Licenses issued on or after March 14, 2007, expire 5 years after the issue date.  Licenses issued before March 14, 2007, expire 4 years after the issue date.  All regular licenses renewed on or after March 14, 2007 expire 5 years after the renewed license was issued.

After October 17, 2009, if you wish to renew your license, you may do so 90 days before the license expires.

The legal requirements for a concealed handgun license are:

* 21 years of age or older
* Legal Resident of the United States & resident of Ohio for past 45 days. Must be a resident of the county or adjoining county where you apply for at least 30 days.
* Completion of a 12 hour gun safety course ( within the last 3 years)
* Filling out an application with the Sheriff's Office
( phone number to call when ready for pickup)
* Submit a COPY of your training certificate with the application or in the past 6 years you have retired as a peace officer, state trooper, federal law enforcement officer or have been honorably discharged from the military within the past 6 years, or are an active or reserve member of the military the Firearms training certificate is not required, but must provide verification of your current/former employment or military service and documentation of firearms training equivalent to Ohio's Concealed Carry Training Requirements.
* Providing a recent (within 30 days) color facial photo on the application ( photo will not be returned it is kept with your application)
* Payment of non-refundable fee:
*Criminal and Mental Competency background checks

Recently the Ohio Attorney General raised processing fees they charge Sheriff's Offices for criminal history record checks and concealed carry licenses.

$67.00 - 5 consecutive years as an Ohio resident
$91.00 - less than 5 consecutive years as an Ohio resident

Renewal License:
$50.00 - 5 consecutive years as an Ohio resident
$74.00 - less than 5 consecutive years as an Ohio resident

Temporary Emergency License:
$37.00 - 5 consecutive years as an Ohio resident
$61.00 - less than 5 consecutive years as a Ohio resident

Lost/Stolen License:
